Cancer Information

Definition of cancer from Wikipedia:
Cancer is a group of diseases in which cells are aggressive (grow and divide without respect to normal limits), invasive (invade and destroy adjacent tissues), and sometimes metastatic (spread to other locations in the body). These three malignant properties of cancers differentiate them from benign tumors, which are self-limited in their growth and don't invade or metastasize (although some benign tumor types are capable of becoming malignant). Cancer may affect people at all ages, even fetuses, but risk for the more common varieties tends to increase with age.

Nearly all cancers are caused by abnormalities in the genetic material of the transformed cells. These abnormalities may be due to the effects of carcinogens, such as tobacco smoke, radiation, chemicals, or infectious agents. Other cancer-promoting genetic abnormalities may be randomly acquired through errors in DNA replication, or are inherited, and thus present in all cells from birth. Complex interactions between carcinogens and the host genome may explain why only some develop cancer after exposure to a known carcinogen.

A note from Dr. Jen:

So, *if* someone is genetically susceptible to cellular changes, then all it takes is repetitive assaults on the body to allow the body to express the gene? The human body is AMAZING at adaptation - whether it be during a trip to a high altitude location or the occasional fast food stop. Some bodies may not be able to survive at a high altitude with getting very ill. Others have decrease energy and a decrease in proper bodily functions due to constant fast food exposure. What is the thing that you might be doing to tip the scales out of your favor???? Why wait for a diagnosis for you to start changing your lifestyle.

That being said, look at a few things that increase your risk of breast cancer (according to Western medicine):

  • Early menarche
  • Late menopause
  • Age- over 50
  • Hereditary- tumor markers (BRCA I and BRCA II)
  • Women who never delivered a term baby
  • Obesity
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Hormonal (estrogen and estrodial)
  • Hormone replacement therapy (including birth control pills)

People generally think that cancer is a death sentence and if you survive than you've just won a round with the Grim Reaper. I have a different view point from watching certain family members and patients deciding to utilize "alternative therapies" for cancer. Cancer seems to be a pretty easy thing to deal with, as long as you are 1) willing to fight it with every means you have. 2) understand that poisoning your body may not be to your advantage, if the reason you have cancer was because you were toxic to begin with. 3) willing to change your lifestyle.

Many "approved" therapies in the United States are questionable, to say the least. Of course, I have had a family member who opted for a double radical mastectomy and another family member who opted for black salve. Both of them are cancer-free to this day.

Cancer Treatment Tips

The video below is about the Hoxsey Cancer Cure, which I am not endorsing. I just think the information in it is interesting. I don't believe that the FDA is here to protect us either, since they have approved things like Aspartame and the use of Pitocin in labor (which currently contains mercury as a preservative), but that's me. It just goes to show you that not every treatment is the right treatment for every person.
