DR. PADRTA'S BOOK LIST:

Here are some informative books that include a broad range of subjects. Many are important reference books that will provide homeopathic remedies for children as well as adults, while others will be up-to-date information on subjects like childhood vaccinations to help you make informed decisions. Just click on the books below to purchase and enjoy reading.

Wellness Workbook: How to Achieve Enduring Health and Vitality (Paperback)

This book will allow you (and your family & friends) to take charge of your own health. No family should be without this workbook.

Sugar Shock!: How Sweets and Simple Carbs Can Derail Your Life-- and How YouCan Get Back on Track (Paperback)

This book WILL shock you. I do not believe that giving children sugar is a good reward, but some parents have sugar addictions and they think nothing of giving their children the same treats they give themselves. Every person should read this. Most people complain of the same problems: exhaustion, occasional or persistent depression, weight issues - and most of them could be "cured" by getting rid of sugar from their diets and increasing water alone.

Power vs. Force: The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior (Paperback)

This book, written by an MD, goes into muscle testing with explanation, research, history and the benefits of it.

Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy (Hardcover)

This book is an easy read. You only read 1 or 2 pages each day, as each page is date stamped. It will cause you to find abundance in so many simple things that we forget to see on a daily basis. Gratefulness is something you might just come away with after reading this...and it's wonderfully written.

Something More: Excavating Your Authentic Self (Paperback)

A book that builds on Simple Abundance - and it truly does allow you to remember and find that woman hiding somewhere inside us.

Empty Harvest (Paperback)

A real eye opener. Anyone who thinks they are getting all the essential vitamins and minerals they need from the produce section at their local supermarket needs to read this book today!

Childhood Ear Infections: A Parent's Guide to Alternative Treatments (Paperback)

Research increasingly questions the safety and efficacy of antibiotics in treating ear infections in small children. The author discusses diet, homeopathic care, and children's vitamin absorption process. The book includes a checklist that advises parents when they should take their children to the doctor, and provides specific questions to ask in determining the appropriateness of antibiotics or surgery.

Confessions of a Medical Heretic (Paperback)

LOVE this book. It is sure to provoke thought and stimulate conversation. Even if you read 10 pages from this book, you will walk away with more information that may just change the outcome of your decisions, thus your life.

Healthy Cooking for Kids: Building Blocks for a Lifetime of Good Nutrition (Paperback)

One of my patients told me about this book. It has some great alternative recipes. Tell me which recipes are your favorites.

Simplify Your Life with Kids: 100 Ways to Make Family Life Easier and More Fun (Paperback)

I love Elaine St. James' books of simplifying your life in every aspect. This is a great one. Easy solutions that you can implement today to take some stress off of you and your kids.

Living the Simple Life: A Guide to Scaling Down and Enjoying More (Paperback)

This book isn't unrealistic about our busy lives. It does not tell us to go live in a bathroom-less hut somewhere. What is DOES tell us, is that there are 100 ways to make minor changes, over time, to increase the quality of our lives. If you feel like there are not enough hours in the day, this book is definitely for you.

The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth (Paperback)

Self explanatory. The complete rundown on modern pregnancy and childbirth...for women who want the facts.

Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives (Paperback)

Deepak Chopra writes a much-needed antidote to our modern, assembly-line approach to childbirth.  Its ideas derive from two sources: the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, with its emphasis on body, mind, and spirit, and the latest Western scientific prenatal research

Water Birth: A Midwife's Perspective (Paperback)

A comprehensive book on waterbirth, without the fluff. After birthing both of my sons in water, I can't imagine a "land" birth. An excellent book for any woman considering her birthing options...even if waterbirth wasn't one of them.

Gentle Birth Choices (Paperback)

This book comes with a DVD, showing 6 births. It's a great way to prepare yourself, your husband and your other children for the birth of their sibling.

Emergency Childbirth: A Manual

Emergency Childbirth: A Manual (Spiral-bound)

Every person having a baby should be prepared, in case the baby shows up on the way to the hospital, or just so they can see that childbirth really isn't an emergency, even when it appears that it is to most people. This is a great read for soon-to-be dads who want to feel more empowered.

Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parent's Guide: How to Make Safe, Sensible Decisions about the Risks, Benefits, and Alternatives (Paperback)

There are so many books out there on vaccination. This one is a non-biased book written for parents who are just starting to consider whether or not to vaccinate or partially vaccinate. See vaccination on our site for more information.

A Shot in the Dark (Paperback)

This book started my wheels turning about vaccination, when I read it at the age of 16. By the time I was ready to have children and make those decisions, I already knew what I was going to do, without a doubt.

What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children's Vaccinations (Paperback)

The author, an MD, explains the pros and the cons of vaccinations. With detailed facts about each vaccination, as well as regulations and laws, this book provides easily understandable information to help parents make a knowledgeable, responsible choice about vaccinating their children.

The Sanctity of Human Blood : Vaccination is Not Immunization (Fifth Edition) (Paperback)

Well researched and by far, the most easily read book. Rather than a million paragraphs, it has bullet points, which I like. Cut out the extraneous chatter and get to the point.

Beyond Antibiotics: 50 (or so) Ways to Boost Immunity and Avoid Antibiotics Second Edition (Paperback)

A good place to start for people who seem to rely on antibiotics as their first line of defense.

The Genie in Your Genes: Epigenetic Medicine and the New Biology of Intention (Hardcover)

Dawson Church demonstrates that, by taking control of our consciousness and using it to influence our genetic expression, we can sometimes bypass years of therapy, as well as harmful drugs and invasive surgeries, to, in effect, do continuous genetic engineering on our own bodies. He cites hundreds of scientific studies on how beliefs and emotions can trigger the expression of DNA strands. They can be triggered by thoughts or emotions ("I'm so mad about what Uncle John said at the Christmas party"). These genes affect specific aspects of our immune system, such as the production of white blood cells that destroy attacking bacteria and viruses.

Questioning Chemotherapy (Paperback)

Is chemo safe? Is it necessary? It is effective? You be the judge.

Your Body's Many Cries for Water (Paperback)

As a result of extensive research into the role of water in the body, the author, a medical doctor, believes that he has found chronic dehydration to be the cause of many conditions including asthma, allergies, arthritis, angina, migraine headaches, hypertension, raised cholesterol, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, depression, and diabetes in the elderly. Drinking coffee, tea and sodas actually contributes to dehydration.

Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills (Paperback)

You don't think MSG or aspartame is contributing to ill health? Think again. Read this book, written and well-researched by Russell Blaylock, MD.

DR. PADRTA'S VIDEO LIST:

Here are some informative Videos that include a broad range of subjects. Just click on the DVDs below to purchase and enjoy.

What Babies Want

A wonderful documentary, This video gives a look at what babies go through prior to, during, and after birth. If you want to do everything you can to prepare yourself for the physical and psychological changes you and your baby go through, this is the video for you.

Psalm & Zoya — The Unassisted Homebirth of Our Twins

This DVD left me speechless. This mother of twins delivers them herself, at home, when the midwife didn't make it to the deliveries. In a day when nearly 100% of twin births are c-sections, this video shows exactly just how strong a woman can be...and how amazing women's bodies are if they are just left alone to do what is intended.

DR. PADRTA'S "Things for new moms" LIST:

Here are some great accessories for the new mom (and dad). Just click below to purchase and enjoy.

Medela Nursing Stool

The NursingStool from Medela relieves stress on your legs, back, shoulders, and arms. Its scientific design elevates your lap to help position the baby more comfortably for breast or bottle feeding. It took an amazing amount of pressure off of my back when breastfeeding. This is a must for any mom who wants to feed their baby comfortably.

Baby Trend Snap-n-Go Stroller

I watch moms (and dads) come in to my office lugging those huge (and heavy) car seats around. Instead of pulling out your gigantic matching stroller, this small, light-weight and compact stroller is just enough to run quick errands....or long trips to the mall. It's as narrow as the car seat, has a basket underneath, and opens with one hand. This is one item, I have NO idea how anyone gets around without and he cost of this will save you more than enough in Chiropractic visits.

My Brest Friend Light Green Deluxe Pillow

This nursing pillows offers the mom support, as well as the baby. Helps correct mom's posture as she breastfeeds.

This was one of the best presents I received after our 2nd baby was born. I wished I had found it during my first pregnancy.

  • Prevents roll-offs (with co-sleeping and in your child's own bed)
  • Can be used as a body pillow (during pregnancy and after)
  • Protects mattress (whether it's breastmilk or a leaky diaper)
